Park Rapids, Menahga hit road to open section play

Park Rapids and Menahga will open the section volleyball playoffs on the road.

Park Rapids, which finished the regular season with a 5-17-1 record, received the No. 7 seed and will play at No. 2 Pequot Lakes (19-5-1) Thursday night at 7 to open the Section 8AA North tournament. Pequot Lakes defeated the Panthers 25-4, 25-9, 25-14 during the regular season.

In the other 8AA North quarterfinal matches Thursday night, No. 1 Thief River Falls (21-5) hosts No. 8 Bagley (1-20), No. 4 Roseau (18-8-1) hosts No. 5 Warroad (11-15), and No. 3 East Grand Forks (18-9-1) hosts No. 6 Crookston (5-16). The north semifinals will be held Friday night at the high seeds.

In the Section 5A tournament, Nevis (20-8-1) received the No. 1 seed in the East West bracket and will host either No. 4 Pillager (10-14-3) or No. 5 Royalton (5-17-2) Friday night at 7 at the Tiger Arena in a subsection semifinal match.

Menahga (4-18) received the No. 5 seed in the West North bracket and will play at No. 4 Browerville (11-12) Thursday night at 7 in a quarterfinal match. The winner of that match plays at No. 1 Sebeka (17-10-1) Friday night at 7.
