Brittany Kelley's 11 kills and four ace serves and Journee Howard's nine kills led Pine River-Backus to a 25-13, 21-25, 25-14, 25-14 win over the Park Rapids volleyball team Tuesday night at the Area High School gym.

In Set 1, an ace serve by Mady Vaudrin, three winning spikes by Megan Grimes and a tip by Grace Bateman had the Panthers even at 11-11. Megan Felthous then served 10 straight points to give Pine River-Backus the set. Kelley had two kills and a block while Liz Downie had a kill for the Tigers during that stretch.

A pair of blocks by Vaudrin, an ace serve by Morgan Dean, a kill by Katie Olson, an ace serve by Vaudrin, a block by Shania Johnson, a winning spike by Bateman and a pair of ace serves by Justine Rittgers gave the Panthers a 13-9 lead in Set 2. Two kills by Dean, a kill by Vaudrin and a pair of ace serves by Bateman extended the lead to 18-11. Kills by Bateman and Grimes and an ace serve by Olson helped the Panthers even the match.

Kills by Johnson, Vaudrin and Grimes kept the Panthers within 7-4 in Set 3. PR-B went on an 18-10 run to close out the set. Winning tips by Dean and Vaudrin and kills by Johnson and Alayna Young led the Panthers during that stretch.

The Tigers jumped out to a 17-6 lead in Set 4 to help end the match. A spike by Vaudrin, a tip by Ashley Thelen and an ace serve by Young made it 22-14 before PR-B served out the match.

Park Rapids fell to 3-9 on the season while PR-B improved to 10-4.
