Panthers fall to Pirates, have match with Perham suspended

Josh Johnson focused on a volley during his No. 2 singles match against Crookston Tuesday at the Depot Courts.

Scott Smith and Mitch Fossen won nine games in a straight-set loss at No. 1 doubles as the Park Rapids boys tennis team dropped a 7-0 dual to Crookston Tuesday at the Depot Courts.

Crookston dropped only 10 games in the other six matches to improve to 5-3 in dual meets. The Pirates defeated Perham 6-1 in the other match.

The Panthers' match against Perham was suspended because of darkness. That dual was tied at 3-3 and will be completed at a later date.

Park Rapids fell to 1-5 in dual meets with the loss.

No. 1 doubles: Ross Forney/Travis Vatthauer, C, over Scott Smith/ Mitch Fossen 7-5, 6-4.

No. 2 doubles: AJ Biermeier/Scott Grunewald, C, over Chris Shaw/Nick Lopez 6-1, 6-1.

No. 3 doubles: Kollin Erdman/Derek Ringdahl, C, over Jeff Dickinson/ Jaden Olson 6-1, 6-1.
