Warroad shuts out Panthers in first trip to Ted O. Johnson Ice Arena

Kyle Sylvester's two goals and Casey Anderson's goal and two assists led Warroad to a 5-0 win over the Park Rapids-Menahga-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley boys hockey team Thursday night at the Ted O. Johnson Ice Arena.

After a scoreless first period in which the Panthers held a 9-8 advantage in shots on goal, Warroad held a 17-4 edge in shots in the second period in building a 3-0 lead. Sylvester's power-play goal and Aaron Haataja's shorthanded goal led the Warriors.

Goals by Tommy Astrup and Anderson in the third period capped off the scoring as Warroad was victorious in its first trip to Park Rapids.

Park Rapids goalie Cody Brumbaugh finished with 38 saves as the Warriors finished with a 43-23 advantage in shots on goal.

Warroad improved to 2-0 against Section 8A teams and 3-1 overall while the Panthers fell to 0-2 in the section and overall.
