Olivia Vaadeland hit a three-run home run and Brie Warne threw a five-hitter in leading the Park Rapids fastpitch softball team to an 11-1 victory over Thief River Falls Thursday at the Area High School field.

The Panthers held a 2-1 lead before Vaadeland's blast over the centerfield fence in the fifth inning provided a 5-1 cushion. A six-run sixth inning ended this game early via the 10-run rule.

Park Rapids opened the scoring in the third inning when Shelby Weckwerth and Carson Christenson walked and Leeza Tostenson lined an RBI single.

In the fourth, Ashley Domino was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on Jenny Palm's RBI double.

After TRF scored a run in the top of the fifth, a walk to Christenson and a double by Tostenson set up Vaadeland's three-run homer.

Park Rapids sealed the win in the sixth by scoring six times. Alyssa Carlson, Weckwerth and Christenson led off the inning with walks. After Tostenson's RBI grounder, Vaadeland's two-run single, Lizzy Vaudrin's RBI double, a single by Anna Grimes, and a throwing error on Palm's grounder ended the game.

Vaadeland went 3 for 4 with two runs and five RBI, Tostenson went 2 for 4 with two RBI and Warne went 2 for 3 to lead Park Rapids' 12-hit attack.

Warne improved to 9-2 on the season by allowing one unearned run while striking out four in a complete-game effort.

The win lifted Park Rapids' record to 10-2 entering Tuesday's Mid-State Conference doubleheader at Pequot Lakes. The Panthers host Pelican Rapids Thursday and Detroit Lakes Friday in a make-up conference doubleheader.
