O'Mara's second straight shutout sparks Panthers

Ryan O'Mara's second consecutive shutout lifted the Park Rapids-Menahga boys hockey team to a 5-0 win at Kittson Central Saturday afternoon.

O'Mara stopped all 19 shots he faced and Kevin McMorrow added a hat trick to lead the Panthers to that Section 8A win. Sam Coborn had a goal and three assists as the Panthers improved to 10-4-1 on the season.

A seven-goal first period sparked the Panthers to an 8-1 win at Bagley/Fosston Thursday night. Ian Johnson scored the game's first three goals while Tucker Coborn scored twice in the first period. Sam Coborn added a goal and five assists while goalie Mark Bravo made nine saves for the win.

The Park Rapids wrestling team split matches at Staples Thursday night, rebounding from a 38-27 loss to Staples-Motley to defeat Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus 45-30.

The Park Rapids-Menahga-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley girls hockey team battled Crookston in a 3-1 loss at the Ted O. Johnson Ice Arena Thursday night. Crookston is rated No. 5 in the latest state Class A poll.

Perham used nine first-place finishes to defeat the Park Rapids boys swimming team 113-70 Thursday night at the Area High School pool.

Warroad ended the game with an 8-0 run to seal a 56-47 win over the Park Rapids girls basketball team Friday night at the Area High School gym.

The Park Rapids boys basketball team dropped a pair of home games over the weekend as Warroad prevailed 60-38 at the Area High School gym Friday night and Roseau prevailed 67-59 at the Century School gym Saturday afternoon.

The Park Rapids gymnastics team received a season-high 117.75 points to finish fourth at its own invitational meet Saturday at the Area High School gym. Bemidji won the team title with a 133.70 in this five-team meet.
