Panthers drop pair of 4-1 decisions

Going 0-for-11 on the power play led to a pair of 4-1 losses for the Park Rapids-Menahga-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley girls hockey team.

The Panthers failed to score on six power-play opportunities in a 4-1 loss to Babbitt-Embarrass Thursday night at the Ted O. Johnson Ice Arena.

Park Rapids then went 0-for-5 in power-play chances Saturday in a 4-1 loss at East Grand Forks.

The Panthers, who traveled to Thief River Falls Tuesday night, will stay on the road with games at Benson Thursday night and at Eveleth-Gilbert Saturday afternoon.

Moser, Skelton lift B-E

In the loss to Babbitt, the Panthers had a 32-20 edge in shots but were held to Jessica Gapinski's first-period goal.

Bailey Moore made 16 saves for the Panthers, who trailed 2-1 despite having an 11-5 edge in shots in the first period and a 13-6 edge in shots in the second period.

Hope Moser scored twice while Taylor Skelton had a goal and three assists for the Knights.

Jensen keys EGF's win

Leah Jensen scored three goals to lead East Grand Forks past the Panthers Saturday.

After a scoreless first period, goals by Jensen and Keeley Gregoire gave EGF a 2-0 lead after the second period.

McKenna Brand scored on an assist from Gapinski early in the third period before Jensen completed her hat trick to seal the win.

Moore finished with 28 saves as the Panthers fell to 1-4-2 on the season.

East Grand Forks, which held a 32-24 edge in shots, improved to 4-1.
