Snurdbirds shut out Sebeka

Brett Dormanen threw a five-hit shutout and struck out seven as Midway defeated Sebeka 10-0 in a Lake and Pine League amateur baseball game Sunday at Midway.

The Snurdbirds scored four times in the fourth and four times in the seventh to end this game early via the 10-run rule.

Jeff Marjamaa had a two-run double, Chris Baso went 2 for 3 with a run and RBI, Kyle Dormanen went 2 for 4 with an RBI and Drew Rasmussen went 2 for 3 with two runs and two RBI to lead Midway's 10-hit attack.

Zach Etter and Pete Marjamaa also drove in one run each. Brad Lusti scored twice while Sean Dormanen, Etter, Alex White, Dustin Hanninen and Pete Marjamaa scored one run each.

The win lifted the Snurdbirds to 14-9 on the season. Midway, which is hosting Wadena-Deer Creek at 1 and Moorhead at 3:30 today (Saturday), ends the regular season with a home game against Red Eye Sunday afternoon at 1:30.

Midway shut out by rival

Etter and Lusti combined on a three-hitter, but three Midway errors gave Wolf Lake a 3-0 win at Menahga last Friday night.

Jeff Marjamaa's double and singles by Etter, Chris Baso and Jake Lund provided the only offense for Midway.

Etter gave up three hits, five walks and two unearned runs in five innings for the loss while Lusti allowed two walks and one unearned run over the final four innings. Both pitchers struck out five batters apiece.

Snurdbirds fall to Lastrup

A five-run first inning sparked the Lastrup Lakers to a 7-3 win over Midway at Menahga on July 8.

Mike Baso went 2 for 5 and Travis Lusti went 2 for 3 to lead Midway, which finished with eight hits. Lund, Sean Dormanen and Adam Meech scored Midway's three runs while Brett Dormanen and Brad Lusti had an RBI each.

Lund took the loss, allowing seven runs on 11 hits and four walks while striking out eight in seven innings. Brad Lusti struck out five over the final two innings.

Meech, Lusti throw no-hitter

Brad Lusti and Tony Meech combined on a no-hitter in leading Midway to an 11-0 victory over Red Eye at Menahga on July 3.

Lusti struck out 12 and walked one over the final five innings for the win while Meech started the game with two perfect innings.

Midway scored three times in the second and fifth innings and twice in the sixth to spark the win.

Pete Marjamaa went 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBI and James Burkman went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI to lead Midway's 12-hit attack. Tony Meech went 2 for 2 with a double and RBI. Brett Dormanen, Kyle Dormanen, Chris Baso, Lund and Brad Lusti also drove in a run each. Kyle Dormanen and Lund scored twice.
