Register for ATV youth safety class
The Forest Riders ATV Club will present an ATV youth safety training class on Saturday, June 6 beginning at 10 a.m. The testing and operating class will be held at St. Mary's Church and the Two Inlets Town hall in Two Inlets. Pre-registration is required.
ATV safety training is for ATV operators ages 12-15. Students who complete this course are able to operate ATVs of any size with these restrictions: You must fit the machine and you may make a direct crossing of a public road right of way or operate on state lands and waters, only when accompanied by a person 18 years of age or older who has a valid driver's license. Operating along or on a public road right of way is not permitted with this certification. Students who are 11 years of age may take the complete course but the certificate will only become valid when they reach their 12th birthday.
A CD ROM is available free of charge through the DNR Information Center. Call 1-888-646-6367 to request one. The Enforcement Safety Training Office at 1-800-366-8917 also offers the CD ROM. The CD portion must be completed before the class date.
Upon successfully completing the testing and operating portion of the course, the students will be issued a temporary certificate to operate an appropriate ATV over 90cc. Instructors will submit class rosters to the DNR and completion certificates will be mailed directly to the successful student.
