Cardinals capitalize on 35 PR turnovers

The Staples-Motley girls basketball team capitalized on 35 Park Rapids turnovers to end the regular season with a 60-26 Mid-State Conference victory last Friday night at Staples.

Nikki Pearson and Ashley Lisson scored 11 points apiece as the Cardinals built a 38-17 lead at the half. Hannah Wolff hit a pair of jumpers and a 3-pointer, Danielle Dent had two field goals and Alyssa Klingenberg hit a 3-pointer for PR.

Pearson, Savanna Hill and Naomi Landecker connected on 3-pointers in the second half as the Cardinals outscored Park Rapids 22-9. Mindy Lawrence had two field goals while Wolff and Ashley Domino had a basket each for the Panthers.

Wolff finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Panthers, who concluded the regular season with a 0-10 record against conference teams and a 2-20 overall mark. The Cardinals improved to 7-3 in the conference and 16-10 overall.
