Panthers post conference victories at Detroit Lakes

A sweep in the singles matches sparked the Park Rapids girls tennis team to a sweep over a pair of Mid-State Conference opponents Thursday at Detroit Lakes.

Natalie Kinkel (at No. 1 singles), Abby Morris (at No. 2 singles) and Mickey Clark (at No. 4 singles) posted straight-set wins while Kendra Coborn prevailed in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 3 singles to spark a 5-2 win over Detroit Lakes. Gracie Eischens and Rachael Herman posted a straight-set win at No. 2 doubles while Chloe Johnson and Jada Renneberg lost in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles. Morgan Koppelman and Macy Goochey added a 6-2, 6-4 exhibition wins in doubles.

The Panthers rolled in singles, dropping only four games, in a 6-1 victory over Crosby-Ironton. Kinkel, Morris, Coborn and Clark each dropped only one game in coasting to singles wins. Eischens and Herman prevailed in straight sets at No. 2 doubles while Meagan Powers and Goochey prevailed in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles.

Park Rapids improved to 2-1 in conference matches and 6-5 overall in dual meets.

No. 3 doubles: Chloe Will/Siri Vagle, DL, over Meagan Powers/Madison Johnson 6-3, 6-3.
