A 5-2 win was followed with a 5-2 loss as the Park Rapids girls tennis team split dual meets Tuesday at the Depot Courts.

After an hour rain delay, the Panthers opened this scheduled quadrangular meet with a 5-2 win over Section 8A rival Crookston before falling to Mid-State Conference rival Pequot Lakes by the same score in the second dual. The third dual against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle was rained out.

In the win over Crookston, Natalie Kinkel and Abby Morris coasted to wins at the top singles spots while Kendra Coborn prevailed in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 3 singles. Gracie Eischens and Rachael Herman also prevailed in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles while Meagan Powers and Madison Johnson rolled to a win at No. 3 doubles. Emma Miller and Macy Goochey added a 6-3, 6-0 win in an exhibition doubles match.

Pequot Lakes used three straight-set wins in singles and a pair of straight-set wins in doubles for the victory in the Panthers' first conference dual. Morris won in straight sets at No. 2 singles while Eischens and Herman rallied to win a third-set tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles to account for Park Rapids' two wins. That loss dropped the Panthers' overall record to 4-5.

Pequot Lakes won all three matches with a 7-0 win over LP-GE and a 4-0 win over Crookston in a match that saw the other three matches rained out. Crookston defeated LP-GE 5-2 in the other match.

"The girls continue to play well, but there is still a lot of room for improvement," said Park Rapids head coach Brianne Morris. "I'm proud of the girls and how hard they continue to work."
