Several area individuals, teams rated in state polls
Five area wrestlers as well as the Menahga girls and Nevis boys basketball teams were rated in the latest state polls.
Park Rapids' Ashton Clark was rated No. 3 at 113 pounds and Cody Dravis was rated No. 5 at 170 pounds in this week's state Class AA wrestling poll. Perham was rated No. 4, Pierz was rated No. 15, Thief River Falls was rated 18 and Detroit Lakes was rated No. 20 to represent Section 8AA among state Class AA teams.
In the state Class A wrestling poll, Nevis' Dillon McGee was rated No. 5 at 126 while United North Central's Isaac Tellers was rated No. 10 at 113 and Toby Hintzman was rated No. 4 at 152. Frazee was rated No. 2.
Menahga remained in the No. 5 spot in this week's state Class A girls basketball poll while Nevis dropped from No. 4 to No. 7 in the state Class A boys basketball poll after losing to Cass Lake-Bena, which moved up to the No. 4 spot. Menahga remained the only undefeated team among Class A teams and trailed Lyle/Austin Pacelli, Mountain Iron-Buhl, Hayfield and Goodhue while Nevis was rated below North Woods, Springfield, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, Cass Lake-Bena, Mayer Lutheran and Hinckley-Finlayson. Perham was rated No. 4 in the state Class AA boys poll while Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (No. 2) and Roseau (No. 5) were rated in the state Class AA girls poll.
In the state Class A hockey polls, Warroad (No. 1), Thief River Falls (No. 5) and East Grand Forks (No. 8) topped the girls list while East Grand Forks (No. 7), Warroad (No. 16), Thief River Falls (No. 21) and Crookston (No. 25) were listed in the boys poll.
Detroit Lakes remained atop the state Class A gymnastics poll with a 151.02 average while Perham (No. 8 with a 143.70 average), Fergus Falls (No. 22 at 136.16) and Alexandria (No. 23 at 135.77) were also listed among Section 8A teams.
Sartell-St. Stephen was the only Section 5A team listed in the state Class A boys swimming and diving poll at No. 4.
