Braves' defense stymies Bertha-Hewitt, Hill City

The Menahga girls basketball team outscored Bertha-Hewitt and Hill City by a combined total of 144-24 in adding two more wins to an undefeated season.

Megan Hendrickson's double-double led the Braves to a 62-10 Park Region Conference win over Bertha-Hewitt Thursday night at Menahga while all five starters scored in double figures in the Braves' 82-14 win at Hill City Saturday afternoon.

Menahga, which was rated No. 5 in the latest state Class A poll, improved to 16-0 on the season. The Braves (who are the only undefeated team among Class A schools) trail Lyle/Austin Pacelli, Mountain Iron-Buhl, Hayfield and Goodhue in the state rankings.

Braves run past B-H

Hendrickson's 22 points, 11 rebounds and four steals led the Braves past Bertha-Hewitt.

Alyssa Peterson added 20 points and three steals while Cierra Ahlf had seven rebounds and seven assists for the Braves, who made 4 of 19 3-pointers. Menahga improved to 9-0 in the conference.

The Bears fell to 0-9 in conference games and 1-15 overall.

Braves rout Hill City

Peterson's 16 points, seven steals and four assists and Leah Schwartz's 15 points and six rebounds helped the Braves cruise past Hill City.

Megan Hendrickson had another double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while adding six assists while Ahlf scored 13 points. Tara Hendrickson chipped in 11 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Braves, who made 10 of 34 3-pointers. Menahga had 10 players enter the scoring column.

Hill City fell to 5-12 on the season.
