Sue Fisher took charge down the stretch to repeat as the Women's Club Champion at Headwaters Golf Club.

Fisher held a two-shot lead over Maggie Winchell after the first 18 holes before stretching that margin to 12 shots during the final round in coasting to the win. A birdie on the final hole put the finishing touches on the tournament as Fisher captured her fifth Women's Club Championship in a row.

Fisher opened the two-day, 36-hole tournament with an 89 during last Saturday's first round for a two-shot lead over Winchell in this two-golfer battle for the championship. The final round of the tournament was scheduled for Sunday, but both golfers decided not to play in the rain and elected to play the final 18 holes Tuesday during Ladies Day.

During the first round, both golfers were tied for the lead until Fisher took a one-shot lead with three straight bogeys on the final three holes on the front side. Fisher took an early two-shot lead by opening with a bogey and two pars before Winchell used a par on No. 4 to gain a share of the lead. Fisher carded a 44 while Winchell carded a 45 on the front side.

On the back side, Fisher extended her lead to five shots with pars on No. 11 and No. 13. Pars on No. 15 and No. 17 enabled Winchell to cut the gap to two strokes as Fisher's 45 capped off an 89 while Winchell's 46 led to a 91 after last Saturday's first 18 holes.

Fisher pushed her advantage to five shots after the first nine holes on Tuesday as pars on No. 3 and No. 4 and bogeys on the final five holes resulted in a 44. Winchell used a par on No. 3 and five bogeys on the final six holes to card a 47.

On the back side, Fisher took control with a bogey on No. 10, a par on No. 11, a bogey on No. 12, a par on No. 13, a bogey on No. 14 and a par on No. 15 to extend the lead to 12 shots. Winchell fell back despite carding a birdie on No. 11 and a par on No. 15.

Fisher sealed the win by following bogeys on No. 16 and No. 17 with a birdie on No. 18 for a 40 on the back side and an 84 for a two-day total of 173. Winchell closed with a par on No. 16, a bogey on No. 17 and a par on No. 18 for a 47 on the back side and a 94 for a two-day total of 185.

Fisher's 84 on Tuesday also earned her the Women's Senior Club Championship for the fourth year in a row and the First Flight title with a net 72. Liz Hall won the Second Flight with a net 68, Joanne Avenson won the Third Flight with a net 76 and Jan Tyson won the Fourth Flight with a net 65.
