Victory over Menahga keeps Parkers Prairie in first place
Parkers Prairie jumped out to an 11-1 lead after three innings and held on for an 11-5 victory at Menahga Friday to maintain first place in the Park Region Conference baseball standings.
A five-run first inning and four-run third inning provided Parkers Prairie with the early lead.
Menahga scored a run in the first inning on Al Pietila's double, Charlie Steidler-Thompson's sacrifice bunt and Mitch Peterson's sacrifice fly.
A single by Graham Skoog, a double by Canton Matson, a two-run double by Pietila and an RBI double by Isaac Anderson in the fourth cut the gap to 11-4.
The Braves scored the game's final run in the seventh on doubles by Peterson and Anderson.
Anderson went 3 for 3 and Pietila went 2 for 4 with two runs as the Braves finished with 10 hits. Peterson started and took the loss, allowing seven runs on six hits over the first two innings.
Parkers Prairie, which finished with 11 hits, improved to 6-1 in the conference. Menahga fell to 4-2 in conference play and 6-3 overall.
