Fight breaks out between adults at West Fargo youth hockey tourney

WEST FARGO – Adults at a youth hockey tournament here got into a locker room brawl over the weekend, leaving a man with a cut lip and a black eye, police said.

“There was a dispute between a set of parents and an opposing coach. Words were exchanged, and they eventually had a small fight that took place in the locker room,” said Assistant Chief Mike Reitan of the West Fargo Police Department.

The fight erupted Sunday morning at the Veterans Memorial Arena during the West Fargo Hockey Association's tournament for mite players, ages 7 and 8.

By the time police arrived, the people involved in the scuffle had been ejected from the building, and no one wanted to file charges, Reitan said.

He said both teams were from Canada.

Phone messages left for the West Fargo Hockey Association were not immediately returned.
