Letter: Community support for mock crash appreciated

On behalf of the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office and Hubbard County Emergency Management, I would like to thank you the Park Rapids community and numerous agencies who helped plan, participate, and attend the Park Rapids High School mock crash exercise that was conducted on Thursday, May 5.

The following agencies all took part in some shape or form: Allstate Insurance, Itasca Region Insurance Agency, Inc., American Family Insurance - Steve Noonan Agency, Inc., CHI St. Joseph’s Health-Community Health, CHI St. Joseph’s Health-Emergency Department, Dick’s Auto Salvage & Towing, Hubbard First Response, Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office, Lakeland News, Matt Logan - Impact speaker; MN DNR, MN HSEM, MN State Patrol, North Memorial Ambulance Service, Park Rapids Enterprise, Park Rapids Fire Dept., Park Rapids Police Dept., Park Rapids School of Cosmotology, The Laporte and Park Rapids Schools - Staff and Students; and Tom Vanderwal of Greater NW EMS.

The exercise allowed the entire Park Rapids community see how public safety agencies respond and work together to save lives, while allowing the students and members of the public to view the exercise.

I would again like to thank everyone who took and played a part in this exercise. We hope everyone took something from it.

Brian Halbasch; Emergency Manager, Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office
