Wayne B. Hruby

Wayne Bruce Hruby, 62, of Maplewood and Menahga, MN, passed away at Regions Hospital in St. Paul on June 2, 2018 after a long battle with multiple myeloma. Wayne was born on September 8, 1955 in Park Rapids, MN to parents Lloyd and Marian Hruby. He attended Nevis High School and graduated in 1973. After attending Wadena Tech, he became a Union electrician with IBEW Local 110, and took great pride in his work. Wayne met his wife, Nancy, through the Union. Wayne and Nancy enjoyed traveling throughout North America, including adventuring to Mexico and Canada during her life. Wayne also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and dreamed of retiring to the family farm on the Hubbard Prairie. He is survived by his siblings - Joseph (Linda) Hruby of Maple Lake, MN and Marlene Ceynar of Wadena, MN; nieces and nephews - Craig, Abbe, Steve, and Vicki; extended family; and dear friends - Joseph Koegel, Dorothy Pohl, Tom and Eva Pohl, Rick Olson and Lolly Fawcett, Bruce and Phyllis Little, and Bill and Sharon Rutherford. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Ellen Duff-Hruby, and his parents, Lloyd Hruby and Marian Hruby-Goodrich. Funeral services will be held on June 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church of Akeley. A private interment will be held at Hubbard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to the American Society of Hematology, 2021 L Street NW, Suite 900, Washington, DC 20036, with funds directed to cancer research.
