John A. Steiner
JOHN A. STEINER, 73, of Vero Beach, FL died suddenly of heart failure on Jan. 2nd, 2018, at his Fairfax, VA residence where he and his wife spend Christmas every year with their family.
John was born to John and Marie Steiner on April 3rd, 1944, in Jacksonville, FL. His family moved often as he was growing up, but he spent his formative years in St. Louis. He graduated from St. Louis University High School in 1962. He received his BS in Mathematics from St. Louis University in 1966 and his MBA from University of Toronto in 1968. After his studies he served two tours in Vietnam as an officer in USAF as a navigator and electronic warfare officer on B52s and was a two-time recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. Between his two tours, he met his wife to be, Dianne, in North Dakota. Shortly after his 2nd tour ended he and Dianne were married in 1975 in Northern Virginia. He and Dianne raised 3 children in Fairfax, VA. During that same time frame, John started his highly successful career as a consultant at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). He retired as a partner in the firm in 2001 after more than 25 years with the company.
While John was dedicated to his work, he was also an ardent and loving family man, eschewing many hobbies in order to focus on his children. Even in his retirement, he was never a man of leisure, constantly working on his homes (Vero Beach, Fairfax, VA & Park Rapids, MN) and helping friends and family with financial/business advice. He and Dianne golfed a couple of times a week.
John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dianne. He is also survived by his 3 children: Kent of Annandale, VA; Justin of Orlando, FL; & Heather of Oakton, VA. Additionally, he is survived by his 3 younger siblings, James Steiner, Susan Turner and Christina Shea.
A visitation is scheduled for 01/15/2018 at 4:00 PM till 7:00 PM at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home. It is located at 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Guiding Eyes For the Blind, a charity that helps provide seeing eye dogs for the visually impaired. John & Dianne got involved with organization when raising a puppy for the program.
