Mary King Stibbe

Mary King Stibbe, Lilydale, MN, formerly of Mendota Heights and Nevis, MN, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2017 at the age of 86. Raised in Saint Paul, she was a graduate of Central High School and the University of Minnesota School of Home Economics. After a brief time teaching Home Ec and as half of a Navy marriage, she began her life as a profoundly loving mother to her four kids and as a second mom to many. Among other activities, she served as an elder and deacon at Macalester Plymouth United Church, worked in the Development Office of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, and was a volunteer at Saint Joseph's Hospital (Park Rapids).

With a unique combination of loving-kindness, confidence, wisdom and beauty, Mary lived with a light heart and genuine gratitude for the blessings life brought her, and which she saw all around her. She most cherished her role as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Preceded in death by husband, Austin, and grandson, Matthew, she is survived by children; Anne (Bill) Babcock, Craig (Jane), David (Jane), Karen (Brian) Bebel; grandchildren Joe (Chrissy), Stephen (Erika), Michael (Chiara), and Charles (Nikki) Babcock, Kevin and Aileen Stibbe, Austin and Maren Stibbe, and Kayla, Mari, and Jack Bebel; eleven great-grandchildren; beloved cousin, Sue Littlefield, and dear friend, Charlene Spindler.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 30th, at 11:30 am, at Macalester Plymouth United Church, 1658 Lincoln Avenue, Saint Paul. Memorials preferred to the church, or donor's choice.
