Clarence A. Roberts

Clarence A. Roberts was born in Bentley, Alberta Canada on October 1, 1920. He passed away March 15, 2017 at Memory Care Partners in Eau Claire, WI.

Clarence grew up in Faraway, Alberta Canada, a place that was named by his mother. As a young man in Canada he worked in sawmills there. In 1945 he moved his parents to Laporte, MN where his mother was raised. While in Laporte he took his sister Wilma to church activities where he met the love of his life, Jewell Rudd. They were married June 10, 1950 and were blessed with 3 sons. Clarence was proud to become a naturalized citizen in 1954.

Clarence hauled sawdust to a power plant in Bemidji and shavings to chicken farms in southern Minnesota prior to becoming a Driver's License Examiner in 1960. He retired as a supervisor in 1983. After retirement they moved from Bloomington to Laporte where he and Jewell built their log home. They moved to Eau Claire in 2013. Clarence enjoyed cutting pulp, watching Wheel of Fortune and spending time with friends and family.

Clarence will be missed by his wife Jewell, his sons Brion (Julie) and Bruce, his sister Wilma (Jim Fasano), grandchildren Laura (Nate), Kim and Allan (Tania), great-grandchildren Camden and Cadence, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son John Steven and his daughter-in-law, Linda.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Nicole Weber and the wonderful staff at Care Partners Memory Care and to Heartland Hospice for the loving care they provided Clarence.

Memorial service will take place at 1 pm on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the LaPorte Community Bible Church in LaPorte, Minnesota with Pastor Fred Whyte and Pastor Steve Daggett officiating. Memorial visitation will take place at the church Saturday morning an hour prior to the service. Inurnment will take place immediately following the service in the Lakeport, Cemetery in LaPorte, Minnesota. Visitation will continue at the church at the conclusion of the burial during a luncheon.
