Reward offered in year-old Minn. homicide of liquor store owner

HIBBING, Minn. -- A $25,000 reward is being offered in the investigation into a year-old homicide case in Hibbing, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety said.

Brian Nelson, 60, was killed sometime between July 8-10, 2017, inside his home behind The Bottle Shop liquor store, which he owned. His death happened during the annual Jubilee Community Festival in Hibbing.

The reward is being offered by Spotlight On Crime, a fund that provides cash rewards for information to help solve violent crimes. It is a collaboration between members of the Minnesota Business Partnership and public safety officials.Shortly after his body was found July 10, the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death as a homicide by “sharp force injuries,” Hibbing police said.

Despite extensive investigation by the Hibbing Police Department, an arrest has not been made.
