Vorhes wins legal services Advocacy Award
Joel Vorhes of Park Rapids has been awarded an Advocacy Achievement Award by Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota (LSNM) for his work as a Judicare attorney.
LSNM serves low-income and elderly residents of 22 counties using offices in Moorhead, Alexandria and Bemidji and the Judicare Panel, a group of 165 private attorneys throughout the region.
LSNM selects one attorney or firm annually from each of four Minnesota State Bar Association Districts to receive the Advocacy Achievement Award. The award is given "in recognition of outstanding legal work making a difference to the disadvantaged."
Anne Hoefgen, executive director of LSNM, said, "Joel is an excellent advocate for all of his clients. His skill and patience are unmatched. He has provided access to justice to hundreds of low-income clients who, without Joel's help, would have been facing life-changing, legal situations alone. We are grateful for his pro bono service."
Vorhes graduated from Hamline University School of Law in 2005. He started practicing law in 2011 and maintains a solo practice. The majority of his practice deals with all facets of family law issues. He has been a member of the Judicare Panel since 2011 and has taken over 325 cases for LSNM.
