Tigers, Warriors move up in state polls
Nevis and United North Central moved up in this week's Minnesota state high school football polls while Park Rapids remained in the same spot in this week's state volleyball poll.
Following last week's 44-12 win over Waubun, Nevis moved up three positions to the No. 5 spot in this week's state 9-man football poll. The 3-0 Tigers received one first-place vote and 42 points. Cromwell took over the No. 1 spot with 62 points with Spring Grove (56), Houston (48) and Stephen-Argyle (46) following. Ely (22), Cleveland (18), Red Rock Central (17), Verndale (15), Sleepy Eye St. Mary's (11), Grand Meadow (11) and Rothsay (9) followed. Waubun, which was rated No. 1 last week, fell to No. 17 this week.
In the state Class AA poll, United North Central climbed from No. 15 to No. 9 following a 42-12 win over Wadena-Deer Creek last week. The 3-0 Warriors received 19 points. Caledonia led the poll with 67 points while Barnesville (62), Minneapolis North (58), Hawley (46), Redwood Valley (36), Triton (29), Minnewaska Area (28) and Pipestone (25) followed. Concordia Academy-Roseville (5) rounded out the top 10 while Warroad (2) and Pillager (1) also received votes.
Perham (No. 7 with 39 points) and Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (No. 10 with 11 points) made the top 10 in the state Class AAA football poll. St. Croix Lutheran (88) topped that list.
In this week's state Class AA volleyball poll, Park Rapids remained in the No. 15 spot with 15 points. Maple Lake topped the list with 195 points with Stewartville (170), Marshall (159), Southwest Christian (136), Concordia Academy (114), North Branch (107), Kasson-Mantorville (96), Hill-Murray (92), Rocori (62) and St. Cloud Cathedral (55) following. Roseau, which was rated No. 9 last week, fell to No. 11 this week.
