Classical violinist to play for Noon Hour Concert

Hawken Paul will play violin solos from the classical repertoire for the Noon Hour Concert on Thursday, Aug. 3.

The concert, held from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m., is free and open to the public. Audience members are invited to bring their lunch to eat before the performance. Bars and beverages will be served.

Included Paul's musical selections are Saint Saen's "Violin Concerto No. 3," '"Nigun" from "Baal Shem" by Ernst Bloch, "Romance in F" by Beethoven, Bach's "Partita No. 3" and "Liebeslied" by Fritz Kreisler.

Paul is a freshman at St. Olaf College, where he studies music. He placed third in New York City's Lyra Concerto Competition when he was 15. He has played with ISO Orchestra, Aberdeen Youth Festival, NYYS Chamber Program, and Face the Music. He graduated from LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts. Paul will portray Joe Cable in this summer's production of "South Pacific" by the Northern Light Opera Company.
