Runners complete Grandma's Marathon

Five Park Rapids runners competed in Saturday’s Grandma’s Marathon at Duluth.

Dave Benson completed the 26.2-mile course in 3:49:31, Kerry Johnson ran the course in 4:19:58, Brian Garlie completed the race in 4:36:10, Brian Behrens clocked a 4:38:41 and Diane O’Hern ran the course in 4:39:15.

Jay Pike ran the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon in 2:16:49 while Heather Hafner ran the 13.1-mile half marathon in 2:31:12.

Elisha Barno of Sante Fe, New Mexico won the marathon in 2:11:26 while Sarah Kiptoo of Sante Fe won the women’s title in 2:33:28. There were 7,525 runners (3,782 men and 3,743 women) who completed the marathon.

In the half marathon, Sante Fe’s Macdonard Ondara led the pack in 1:03:33 while Simegn Abnet Yeshanbel of Bayfield, Colorado had the fastest time for the women in 1:13:21. A total of 7,920 runners (2,907 men and 5,013 women) ran the half marathon.
