Verndale man hospitalized after driving into river
One man was hospitalized Tuesday morning after his vehicle slid off a road and into a river Monday night, leaving him trapped inside, according to a report from the Wadena County Sheriff's Office.
The report said Jeremy Umland, 33, of Verndale was driving on 120th Street in Wadena Township at around 11:55 p.m. Monday when his vehicle apparently hit a slippery spot, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle and drive into the nearby Wing River. Umland was trapped inside the vehicle until authorities arrived, the report said.
Verndale Fire Department was able to pull Umland from the vehicle, and he was taken by ambulance to Tri-County Health Care in Wadena.
Wadena Police Department also assisted in the incident, the report said.
