Bail $500,000 for man accused of raping girlfriend's daughter, fleeing with her mother
FARGO - A man and woman arrested in Indiana after the man was accused of sexually assaulting the woman's daughter are back in Cass County.
Bail was set today at $500,000 for Anthony Sells, 37, who is charged in Cass County District Court with gross sexual imposition of a victim who was less than 15 years old, a class AA felony.
His girlfriend, the victim's mother, a 34-year-old Fargo woman, was charged with a felony count of hindering law enforcement.
Bail was set for the woman at $5,000.
The woman allegedly told police the girl was recanting her story, court documents said.
At this time, The Forum is not identifying the woman in an effort to protect the identity of the alleged sexual assault victim. Typically, The Forum doesn't name alleged victims of sexual assault.
The U.S. Marshals Service arrested the couple July 10 at a hotel in Merrillville, Ind., where they were staying.
Judge Wade Webb granted Sells a public defender. Sells is scheduled to appear in court next on Oct. 10.
The woman will appear in court again on Aug. 23.
