Another sex offender returning to Wadena
Authorities will hold the second level 3 sex offender community notification meeting in as many months on Friday, Feb. 3 at 4 p.m. at the Wadena County Courthouse Auditorium.
Wadena Police Chief Bruce Uselman announced that Chad Allan Mikiska, 27, will be released Feb. 6 to the 100 block of Bryant Avenue Southwest in Wadena. Mikiska has a history of sexual contact with female victims 13 years and older, a fact sheet from the Wadena Police Department said.
Mikiska is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 200 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
The community notification meeting is held to provide information about the offender to the public.
"Convicted sexual and predatory offenders have always been released to live in our communities and law enforcement has the ability to register and track these offenders after their release from correctional facilities," the Wadena Police Department said in a news release.
Currently, about 50 registered sex offenders are tracked in Wadena County, and are checked for compliance more often than the law requires. However, only three are considered level 3 offenders; the kind judged most likely to reoffend. They are Mikiska, James Robert Holtorf and Christopher Austin Sharp, for whom local authorities held a community notification meeting in early January as he was being released.
