Bemidji assault suspect arrested after three-hour standoff
On December 20, 2011 at approximately 1 a.m. the Bemidji Police Department responded to the 300 block of Westwood Acres on a report of an assault with a gun. Upon arrival Officers learned a 37-year-old victim had been struck in the head with the barrel of a sawed off shotgun resulting in a large laceration. The victim was treated for injuries.
The suspect, 26-year-old Daniel Wayne Jourdain, remained in the residence and refused to speak with police. Police officers evacuated neighboring homes as the standoff extended over three hours. Eventually, the suspect surrendered to police and he was taken into custody without incident.
The Bemidji Police Department was assisted by the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office and the Headwaters SWAT team.
