Becker County authorities are still searching for a man presumed drowned in Long Lake, but low light conditions underwater are making the search difficult for dive teams, said Becker Country Sheriff Tim Gordon.

The man, believed to be in his 40s and from the Detroit Lakes area, was reported missing Sunday evening. Gordon said he was one of four people aboard a pontoon boat on the lake about 12 miles southeast of Detroit Lakes. Gordon said authorities speculate that he jumped off the boat into the lake and the boat drifted and hit him in the head. But they won't know for certain until the body is recovered.

The search was mapped out at daybreak Monday and later began with one hour shifts rotating ten divers. The underwater search is being complicated by extremely low light levels. The depth of the water in the search perimeter is 42 feet, but light is lost at 20 feet.

Gordon said the search will continue until they find the body or until it's too dark to continue.
