Kindred man arrested after second standoff

Robert Bodin Jr.

KINDRED, N.D. - Authorities arrested a man here after the second standoff with him at his home in about six months.

Robert Bodin Jr., 40, was arrested Thursday and taken to the Cass County Jail on charges of domestic violence and interfering with a 911 call.

Authorities said the incident started about 12:45 p.m. after a domestic assault involving Bodin and his wife escalated.

Local, county and federal agents, including Customs and Border Patrol, and the K-9 unit arrived to the home at 181 Elm St. within minutes. Many were already in town for the flood fight, reported WDAY.

Inside the home, a hunting knife and machete were found.

Bodin's wife had non-life- threatening injuries to her head.

On Oct. 30, Bodin held off authorities for 12 hours, barricading himself inside a garage attached to the home. He was eventually forced out by SWAT tear gas.

That incident also began after an altercation between Bodin and his wife, according to Forum reports. His wife and Bodin's father-in-law, who lived at the residence, were safely removed from the home.

Bodin pleaded guilty to simple assault and felony preventing arrest charges in November, according to Cass County District Court records. He received a suspended sentence of one year in jail and three years probation.
