Henning man pleads not guilty in death of man who leapt from his car

A 48-year-old man from Henning, Minn., pleaded not guilty on Monday to a felony charge linked to the death of a man who police say leapt out of his car.

Prosecutors say James David Seaver didn't stop on July 18 when Dajun Honer, 31, also of Henning, jumped out of Seaver's moving car after a night drinking at a Henning bar.

Seaver is charged with a felony count of failing to stop for an injury of death in Otter Tail County District Court.

Court records state that Seaver told police he didn't realize that Honer jumped.

Honer was found dead on Minnesota Highway 210 southeast of Henning, and a provisional medical examiner's report said he died from traumatic head injuries caused by the fall.

A trial in the case has been set for Jan. 19, according to court records.
