Victim in Roseau County head-on collision identified

A Roseau, Minn., woman driving a minivan crossed the center line a county road Monday afternoon, colliding head-on with a semi-truck.

Lynette Renae Severson, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release from Roseau County Sheriff's Office.

Severson was driving west on County Road 12 southeast of Roseau at a few minutes before 4 p.m. Monday when the 1999 Dodge minivan she was driving went into the eastbound lane, hitting 2002 Volvo semi-tractor truck pulling water tanks, according to the sheriff's report.

The truck driver, Rhett Hulst, 41, of rural Roseau, called 911 to report the accident. He was not injured.

The minivan belonged to Northwest Community Action, a social services agency.

The State Patrol was slated to complete an investigation of the accident and hand it to the Roseau County attorney for review.

The sheriff's office was assisted by the Roseau Fire Department and the U.S. Border Patrol.
