Boy, 16, with passenger, 12, crashes alleged stolen car after refusing Grand Forks Police stop
Two boys were confined at juvenile detention Monday night after refusing a Grand Forks traffic stop and eventually crashing the stolen car from Crookston one had driven into residential neighborhood.
According to a news release:
One Grand Forks officer attempted to stop a 1997 Chevy Monte Carlo that was seen driving erratically before 7 p.m. Monday. The car accerated to higher speeds and refused to stop, ultimately leading police into a Belmont Road neigthborhood where the driver lost control and crashed at the 2500 block of Belmont, disabling the car.
Police said the driver was a 16-year-old male with a 12-year-old male passenger. An investigation revealed the Monte Carlo had been stolen from Crookston. The boys were arrested for motor vehicle theft, stolen property possession and other offenses.
