Motorcycle hits house; Saginaw man killed
One man died Friday evening when his motorcycle left Maple Grove Road and crashed into a house in Solway Township.
A St. Louis County Sheriff's deputy on the scene said the man, who is about 40 years old and from Saginaw, had been identified, but his identity was not immediately released.
Officials said the man lost control of his motorcycle at the corner of Maple Grove and Jeffrey roads and hit the home at 6194 Maple Grove Road shortly after 10 p.m.
Speed was a factor in the crash, officials said. There was no indication the victim tried to brake before the crash.
The ex-husband of the owner of the home told Fox 21 News that he knew the victim, who had worked for him in the home repair industry for several years.
The man said his
19-year-old daughter was home alone at the time of the crash. She did not witness the accident, but heard the crash. He said he's seen many accidents over the years at that corner, but Friday night's was the most serious.
The Minnesota State Patrol was called to the scene late Friday to do accident reconstruction.
