Former bookkeeper sentenced on theft charge
Diana Burson, 46, of 25315 County Road 27, Rochert, was sentenced in Becker County District Court Wednesday for felony theft of property.
According to court records:
On Feb. 12, 2007, an internal theft was reported to Detroit Lakes police by the Riverside Auto Value Store.
Over a six-month period, Burson, the store's bookkeeper, allegedly stole $4,887 through a system involving false invoices for product returns.
On Wednesday, District Judge Peter Irvine stayed imposition of sentence for 10 years and placed her on supervised probation. She was fined $1,000 and ordered to pay $2,500 restitution, which she has already paid.
