Wadena driver slightly injured when truck hits, kills 2 horses on road

A Wadena, Minn., man suffered a minor injury when his Peterbuilt straight truck hit and killed two horses that had wandered onto state Highway 59 several miles south of Thief River Falls, a Minnesota State Patrol incident report says.

According to the report, the collision occurred about 3 this morning as Darwin Skillings, 46, was driving north on Highway 59. His truck hit two of many horses on the highway about about 3/4-mile north of Pennington County Road 7.

The horses were owned by Doug Martell, the State Patrol report said.

The collision investigation is continuing. The Pennington County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
