Park Rapids man gets 240 months in sex crime
A Park Rapids man with a litany of criminal convictions in his past has been sentenced to 240 months in prison for a sex crime in Becker County.
According to Assistant Becker County Attorney Tammy Merkins, Samuel Charles Baxa, 28, pled guilty on Sept. 11 to Criminal Sexual Conduct in the 2nd Degree (Significant Relationship, Victim under 16, Multiple Acts).
On Monday he was sentenced to serve a 240 month prison sentence.
In addition, Merkins said he received a $50 minimum fine plus fees.
“He is required to submit a sample of his DNA, have no contact with the victim or any minor children, and register as a predatory offender pursuant to statute,” she said. “A 10-year conditional release period applies given that his sentence was executed.”
Baxa has a number of convictions in Hubbard, Becker and Wadena counties for offenses ranging from burglary and theft to domestic abuse harassment charges.
