#FMgram: Moorhead/Walker crafter grows business with photos

Instagram was a personal thing for Megan Yeats – at least at first.

The 29-year-old Walker, Minn., native and Moorhead resident joined the popular social network two years ago, using it to share photos with family and friends.

But the stay-at-home mother of three found another use for her Instagram account (@herbunniesthree) after making her love of crafting and sewing into a business last year.

A friend asked Yeats to make an Amelia Earhart doll for her daughter, and the final product was such a success that the friend suggested she sell these dolls to others. Yeats has since had her original Sweeties dolls available at the Unglued indie market in downtown Fargo, through Etsy and at shows around the community.

Instagram has been a crucial way of reaching new customers, both locally and internationally, and she now has more than 1,500 followers who see her photo updates. Still, she said she likes to share pictures of her own little Sweeties – Tayden, 7, Vada, 5, and Tristan, 3.

Yeats will be selling her Sweeties dolls during the Fargo Alley Fair on Sept. 20.
