FARGO – Police are investigating what they say now is a homicide after discovering a dead body behind a southside strip mall an hour after mid-night Friday.

Lt. Joel Vettel said officers were processing the scene east of 14th Avenue and 33rd Street in south Fargo Friday morning.

Police will hold a news conference at 1:30 Friday afternoon at its downtown headquarters.

Vettel said officers were called to that area at about 12:20 a.m. Friday to a call of criminal mischief involving vehicles.

When they arrived, they did not find the body right away, he said, but did find one vehicle matching the description in the original call.

They located the body of an adult man about 200 yards away about 30 minutes later, he said.

Vettel said police have two people being detained for questioning.
