The destination for 2013 Summer Camp this year for the Park Rapids Boy Scout Troop 58 was Camp Tesomas of the Samoset Council near Rhinelander, Wis. The Scouts attended camp the week of July 28-Aug. 3. The camp was founded in 1935.

Also joining and attending camp during the same week was neighboring Boy Scout Troop 56 from Nevis. There were around 700 scouts attending camp during this week.

Besides working on their individual merit badges and rank advancements, age and rank restrictions separate the older scouts from the younger ones at times to work on certain badges for safety reasons.

Areas that drew the older scouts interest was scuba diving certification, shooting sports such as shotgun, and a Micro-Trek Course that included a high ropes COPE course, zip line, whitewater rafting, ATV Certification, disc golf and mountain biking.

In order to attend camp, the scouts rely on fundraisers throughout different times of the year and any donations they get, to help defray the cost and fees.
