Green Valley Fire Relief benefit today features silent auction, other activities to raise funds

By Anna Erickson

The Green Valley Fire benefit will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Saturday) at the Menahga Elementary parking lot and gym.

Bring the whole family to enjoy food, music and games. All funds raised will go to the Green Valley Fire Relief Fund.

The event is designed to raise money for those who lost their homes and belongings in the Green Valley Fire. Many Menahga groups and surrounding communities are involved in planning this event.

The event will be from 4 to 8 p.m. and features a silent auction. A Jared Allen signed jersey and four tickets to a Vikings game donated by Dorset Storage Center and Northway Insurance and a new charbroil grill donated by Anderson Homes in Sebeka are already listed on the auction.

The event will also feature an “Almost Talent Show.” Anyone who would like to be involved in the talent show can email

There will be a kids’ fair, face painting booth and plenty of food.

“The purpose of the July 20 event is to celebrate the togetherness of our community when it mattered most,” Menahga Cares organizers say. “We’ll be thanking fire departments and raising money for victims but we’ll also be enjoying our neighbors because we all genuinely care about each other and it really showed during the fire.”

All proceeds will go to the Green Valley Fire Relief Fund and then to people who had property directly affected by the fire.

If people are unable to attend the fundraiser, they can donate to a relief fund that is set up. Go to First National Bank in Menahga to make donations. For information on how to help or get help through this fund, contact Brad Livingston at 701-793-5271 or email
