Akeley city employee takes three-week sick leave
BY JEAN RUZICKA
The Akeley Council, convening a special meeting Tuesday to discuss “personnel matters,” approved a three-week medical leave for maintenance supervisor Frank Thelin.
In the wake of this, the council reviewed proposals for someone with the proper licensure to be on call for water and sewer work.
No final decision was made on a specific person/city but the council agreed to a $1,500 cap per month for the work.
The assistant maintenance worker, Kelly VandenEykel, was moved from a 30- to 40-hour week and agreed to be on call on weekends.
In recent sheriff’s information, it was reported keys and a cell phone that belonged to the city of Akeley were retrieved and returned to the city. The matter ostensibly referred to Thelin.
