Businesses invited to 'Light up Park Rapids'

In an effort to add to the festive air of the upcoming holiday season, the Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Business Association (PRDBA) are inviting businesses throughout the community to put up lights in window displays or on their buildings.

Known as "Light Up Park Rapids," this initiative is an invitation to businesses to help create lighted corridors this holiday season. The goal is a beautiful, seasonal community collaboration to brighten up Park Rapids as the days grow shorter.

"The Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber and Downtown Business Association (PRDBA) are excited to sponsor a holiday lighting contest and spark the holiday spirit community wide," said Katie Magozzi, Chamber executive director.

The light-decorating contest will run from Friday, Nov. 23 through Saturday, Dec. 8 with a panel of volunteer judges choosing their favorite displays. Three winners will be announced at the Jingle Bells Drawing and Gala Celebration that starts at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 at Century School.

One business will receive a traveling trophy with a photo of the winning display and three winners will receive $100 each in prize money from the Chamber and PRDBA.

Businesses must sign up by 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26 to be included in the judging. For more information, contact the Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce by calling 732-4111 or e-mailing luann47@
