Proceeds from the Park Rapids Community Christmas Dinner were donated to the Salvation Army. "This holiday we raised $20,000," said Salvation Army volunteer Lori Longworth. The funds came from kettle and charitable donations, plus the holiday meal, which is funded with freewill donations. Longworth said the $20,000 is down slightly from years past but still a remarkable achievement in a small community suffering in the economy. "We'd like to thank all our bell ringers and volunteers," Longworth said. Park Rapids Community Christmas Dinner co-chair Lynn Spilman reiterated that appreciation and thanked her co-chair Denny Anderson.
