All School Reunion plans are under way

Rod Nordberg serves up dessert at an All-School Reunion fundraising dinner last fall. A second fundraising dinner was held this spring.

The 2010 Park Rapids All School Reunion is just two months away and organizers are optimistic this will be one of the biggest events yet.

The community event is slated for Aug. 6-8, 2010.

Dave "Lefty" Anderson is chairing the event and said so far two fundraising meals have been very successful.

Reunion apparel is already being sold on the website and Anderson is encouraging people to order early. A very limited amount of apparel will be sold at the reunion.

The committee has been meeting for nearly a year already and events for August's reunion are planned out. Money from the fundraisers goes toward paying for the reunion events. Donations can be sent to 2010 All School Reunion, PO Box 505, Park Rapids, MN 56470.

An All School Reunion tent will be set up as the meeting place throughout the weekend at the Park Rapids American Legion. The tent will be open Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 4-5.

Starting Friday, registration will be at the Century School throughout the day. Friday evening meals and get-togethers are up to each individual class but karaoke will be available at the Legion for anyone to participate in.

Sometime during the day Friday there will be a choir practice. Anyone interested in singing with the alumni choir at the Sunday morning service can send a message to organizers by going to the website

On Saturday, registration will continue and current and extracurricular staff will be at the Legion from 1 to 4 p.m. to meet with former athletes and students.

A "grill 'n' chill" event will take the place of the picnic this year.

It will be held at the American Legion Club after the parade. The Park Rapids Golf Boosters will be selling Pepsi products and water as a fundraiser.

The reunion button will get a person into all the weekend's events.

A choir and band practice will happen sometime during the weekend along with float decorating for Sunday's parade.

Sunday's events will include a Memorial Service at Century School. The parade will be at noon.
