Hubbard County Social Services director resigns
Hubbard County Social Services director Tom Sandberg has resigned his position, effective immediately.
Sandberg, 51, was arrested in the early morning hours of March 18 on suspicion of drunk driving and was subsequently charged in Hubbard County District Court with 3rd Degree Driving While Impaired, a gross misdemeanor.
Sandberg’s letter of resignation was submitted Friday, April 8.
"With little notice, we received the resignation," board chair Matt Dotta said at Tuesday morning’s special Hubbard County Commission meeting. "We must accept and move forward."
The county board appointed Deb Vizecky as interim Social Services director. Commissioner Dan Stacey will act as the board representative.
Vizecky was hired in November as supervisor of Social Services’ Children and Families Department.
Several Social Services staff members attended the meeting Tuesday but did not comment on the matter.
The board authorized the hiring process for a new Social Services director to begin immediately.
Sandberg was hired in October as director of Hubbard County Social Services and started the position in November.
