The Halloween Happening held Saturday drew the largest one-day attendance to date for the Armory Square Auditorium. The family dance and costume contest, sponsored by the Nemeth Art Center, along with the “Basement of the Dead” haunted house produced by the Park Rapids Area High School Drama Department combined to draw nearly 800 people. Over 360 paid admissions to the haunted house generated more than $1,800 in revenue for the Park Rapids Area High School Drama Department.

The Nemeth Art Center dance and costume contest was a separate event with over 400 attending this family costume party. It was hard, fun work and amazing to see how many people wanted to go through our theatrical haunted house,” said Julie Kjenaas, head of the PRAHS Drama Department. “Not only did we make some good money for our drama department but it also introduced the PRAHS drama program to many people who have never come to the high school to see a play.” As community sponsored events, all admissions went to support the activities and programs of the PRAHS Drama Department and the Nemeth Art Center. The event was supported by the Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Business Association, and Region 2 Arts Council.
